Internet dating for your home: Ikancasa

Iklas Thani is a woman from Bagdad with a social and entrepreneurial mind. Triggered by her handicap which makes it difficult for her to move, she has set up the website Ikancasa.  It allows internet dating for your home: a website where handicapped people can find one another to swap their adapted houses with during the holidays.

The website has been built but there is hardly any traffic. That’s where Marco Derksen of  Dutch Marketingfacts comes in. He has provided her with initial advice on how to better optimize the website. When he wrote about that on his blog Upstream and asked whether more people wanted to support this cause, a lot of people reacted to help out. They offered free makeover of the website, free hosting, free translation and more.

The scale of nonbillable collaboration through the web is growing. Ikancasa is one example, but at the questions & answer section on Linkedin, many more examples can be found. People advising each other on things like logos or website design and so on.  And not only for businesses with a social cause.
