DEMO or TECHCRUNCH50?
According to an article in the International Herald Tribune, the Startup Conference DEMO, of CEO Chris Shipley, faces competition from the new conference Techcrunch50 of founder Michael Arrington.
In both conferences, startup companies can present their business to a crowd of investors and journalists. In DEMO however, startups need to pay $18,500 to do so. At Techcrunch only startups who have not been selected for the official presentations, but want to exhibit, need to pay $10,000.
DEMO has started its conferences in 1991, while Techcrunch started in 2007. Both conferences are scheduled on the same days in the beginning of September. Demo in San Diego, and Techcrunch in San Francisco.
At Techcrunch the panel of experts includes 2 female internet heroes: Marissa Mayer of Google and Sheryl Sandberg of Facebook. In DEMO’s advisory board there are none. Female Internet Heroes Stacey Higgingbotham of technology blog Gigacom and Kara Swisher of AllthingsDigital are among the speakers at DEMO.
We look forward to seeing whether the conference will feature women led startups.

Look for Sim Ops Studios presented by Shanna Tellerman at DEMO. I think you’ll be impressed with this woman founder/CEO of a web embedded 3D development platform.
