Men Only decide on the Courvoisier Future 500
The Courvoisier The Future 500, the so-called ‘platform of Greatness’ is an elite network of (male and female) rising stars in the UK. And the successful 2009 applicants have now been announced. The responsibility of deciding who succeeds in joining Courvoisier The Future 500 falls to 5 judges, all men. As the website says: ‘Taken from diverse backgrounds and industries, they possess an alchemic combination of entrepreneurialism, ambition and sheer talent that are the hallmarks of any great individual.’ Indeed, very diverse, no women to be found in this jury.
In the top 100 newcomers, we gladly found
- Sanchita Saha, founder and CEO of CitySocializing, one of the winning exhibitors of the Female Internet Heroes event,
- Kay Vasey of Mesh, recently profiled when securing angel funding from Addidi,
- Kate Ancketill, MD and sole owner of GDR Intelligence, the global research company analysing the latest innovations in retail, leisure and hospitality,
- Calypso Rose, founder of ClippyKit and our entrepreneur with a social conscience, and
- Mary Harrington, Co-founder of School of Everything,
- Rachel Perret, Founder of Frockonline, best newcomer in the 2008 Cosmopolitan Online Fashion Awards and
- Verity Betram, founder of 20 days, the niche travel site with still 10,000 members.
In 2009, you can apply again for 2010; applicants must:
- Be UK residents until 31 December 2009
- Be over the age of 18. [and it seems not older than 40...., TNW understands]
- Have worked in their industry for 2 or more years
OR - Have owned a business for over 1 year, employing 2 or more people
And then they have a change to appoint also a diverse jury.

I just wanted to say that Courvoisier The Future 500 was judged by four entrepreneurs and also had heavy input from the brand manager of Courvoisier, Claire Richards, who went through all the applications with the judging panel.
I was in the top 100 list (Media) too!
