Natalie Massanet, the fashionista of 2008
The fashionista of 2008: Natalie Massanet. Natalie has become an icon in the online upmarket fashion markt with her NET-A-PORTER, clothing business women across Europe. She made our news with her plans to launch OUTNET an outlet version of the chic clothing retail site. We look forward to its launch in April 2009.
- The innovator of 2008: Marina Tognetti. Marina’s innovative concept of teaching languages online earned her our Female Internet Hero of the month title. Not undeservedly, as she proved a few month ago when she won the Accenture Media & Innovations Award 2008, as well as the prize for the best ICT company at the Europe Unlimited’ s European Venture Summit.

Gina Bianchini, the influencer of 2008
The influencer of 2008: Gina Bianchini. Gina was among the 20 most influential women in web 2.0 named by Fastcompany in November 2008 and that earned her her Female Internet Hero of the week title. We look forward to see what she will do in 2009.
- The powerwoman of 2008: Susan Decker. As the president of Yahoo, we watched Susan Decker closely this year as she made it into the Forbes 100 most powerful women list, wrote about the network of powerful Silicon Valley Women around her and eagerly anticipated her taking over from Yahoo boss Yang when he resigned. Maybe next year!
- The blogger of 2008: Arianne Huffington. Arianna Huffington of The Huffington Post. Blogging, socilialising and speaking at Web 2.0 Expo, Arianne has been keeping herself and us busy in 2008.

Emily Olson: dealmaker of the year
The dealmaker of 2008: Emily Olson. Emily, chief-Foodie and co-founder of San Fransisco based Foodzie raised an impressive 1 million USD capital for her marketplace of specialty foods. Impressive in a slowing down market.
- The traveller of 2008: Lisa Sounio. Dictating the future of travel, Lisa Sounio’s Dopplr was in our news a few times; when Dopplr secured a second round of funding, when Lisa talked to us about setting up and funding Dopplr, and more recently when Lisa hosted our Female Internet Heroes Event.
- The VC of 2008: Judy Gibbons. Judy, VC with Venture Capital Firm Accel, and CEO of mobile content company Mippin, predicted the coming years to be the years of the mobile. Judy pointed out ‘we tend to underestimate within technology we tend to overestimate what will happen in two years, and underestimate what will happen in ten.’ We will see what 2009 brings her.

The Celebrity Internet Entrepreneur of 2008 Paltrow
The celebrity internet entrepreneur of 2008: Gwyneth Paltrow. Having set up her own website Goop around the theme of how to ‘Make, Go, Get, Do, Be and See’ Gwyneth leads a the internet entrepreneur of the celebrities this year.
- The realist of 2008: Estelle Akofio -Sowah. Estelle reminded us of the luxurious position people are in the Western world, to have the time and infrastructure to use the internet to the fullest. We interviewed Estelle on her management of BusyInternet, Ghana’s largest privately-owned and operated ICT centre in Africa, and a showcase for succesful African Businesses.
- The exit of 2008: Xoichi Birch. Xoichi may have looked into a crystal ball in selling her company Bebo just before the second internet -it’s too good to be true’ period was finished. That deserves the exit title of 2008.
