funding & pitching speakers announced

We have an impressive line-up of speakers for our up-coming Funding & Pitching event to be hosted in the offices of Loyens & Loeff, February 25th 2009.
Serial Internet Entrepreneur, Sháá Wasmund of Mykindaplace, Brightstation Ventures and the newly launched entrepreneur support site Smarta will describe the various roads she has traveled on her way to investment. Sháá will provide a candid look at finance throughout the life of a business; opportunities and obstacles for businesses and valuable learning points from her diverse career which has included the promotion of boxing fights, the growth of Dyson as a household name and advisory roles with the government.
We are also excited to have two investors talking at the event – Judy Gibbons of VC Accel Partners and Anna Sofat of Addidi Business Angels. The two will cover: challenges to funding in the present economic climate; what they look for in a start up and it’s pitch, as well as what funding is out there for new businesses. Judy has a wealth of experience having worked with HP, Apple and Microsoft before branching into Venture Capital, whilst Anna Sofat brings with her experience from the founding and running of Addidi, a women-only financial advisory firm.
After her great reception at our last event, Andrea Cockerton of Mudhut will again join us as pitch expert. Andrea will cover what, where, when and in what arena a pitch should be made. Previously a director of the Great Eastern Investment Forum, Andrea now provides pitching support to almost 300 entrepreneurs through her venture market consultancy Mudhut.
There is still the chance to practice your funding pitches in our ‘TRY OUT’ session. If you would like to take part please contact: Simone Brummelhuis (simone[at]thenextwomen.com) or Linde Wolters (linde[at]thenextwomen.com)
