TechCrunch Europe’s First Day-Long Conference has a Female Angle
RIBA will play host to TechCrunch Europe’s first day-long conference in London on Tuesday 21st April 2009. Named Geek ‘n Rolla, it is aimed at bringing together the seasoned start-up with seedling enterprise. Old and new will network alongside a day of speakers, start-up pitches and partying.
With inspiration taken from the film, RocknRolla, an impressive list of tech and business experts will talk throughout the day on subjects introduced by aptly picked tunes. Mike Butcher of Techcrunch and Petra Johanson of Twistedtree are the active forces behind the event.
Just a Girl (from the song by No Doubt) will see panellists discuss: ‘Balancing Tech Culture – Getting More Women Involved in Tech Start-ups’. The panelists include:
- Lisa Reichelt, User Experience Consultant and speaker at the Webexpo 2.0;
- Female Internet Hero Sophie Cox of the collaborative platform Worldeka, who we have interviewed recently in our startup series.
- Paul Walsh of OpenSoho;
- Zuzanna Pasierbinska-Wilson, Head of Marketing Communications of Huddle.net, and
- Nacera Benfedda, Director of Product for Viadeo. And we will be there to report on the discussion and conclusions.
Other great titles include:
- Europe, The Final Countdown – The Good, the Bad and the SuperBad. Speaker: Inma Martinez, Stradbroke Advisors, one of the most prominent women in tech in Europe.
- Paper Planes – ‘Monetising your start-up from the word go with advertising and affiliates’. Speaker: Joe Stepniewski, Skimlinks and business partner of Alicia Navarro, who featured as pitching entrepreneur in our December event
- American Idiot – Launching Your Startup in the US – when you’re actually in Scotland. Speaker: Lesley Eccles, Hubdub, who recently featured in thenextwomen because she obtained financing for her venture.
- Boulevard of Broken Dreams - Recession Business Models for Tech Startups. Speaker: Reshma Sohoni, Seedcamp
Other women, who featured in thenextwomen, that are present as speaker or panelist: Wendy White, CEO of Moonfruit, and Julie Meyer of Ariadne Capital.
As many of the speakers have been profiled in articles of TheNextWomen, because of their achievements and their experience with raising finance, the day will be filled with thoughts and tips with a female angle. Hurray for that.
