Deal of a Female Co-Founder: Forbes acquires FlipGloss Media
Forbes Media has acquired online photo content and ad distributor FlipGloss Media for an undisclosed sum. Female Internet Hero Robyn VanTol, VP, Product of FlipGloss is one of the four Co-Founders of FlipGloss and reponsible for product strategy, development and content operations.

FlipGloss was founded in 2008 with funding from Forbes Media and Elevation Partners. USP of the company is its technology that enables premium photo publishers and advertisers to create and add interactive, magazine-style content to their sites with the aim to ncrease their user engagement and ad performance.
Similar to Skimlinks of Founder and CEO Alicia Navarro on textlinks, readers can click on a photo to find out where to purchase an item or even be led to an advertiser’s website.
Partners of FlipGloss include Wowow0W, Variety and of course Forbes.
The business model of the company was lengthy discussed at its launch last year at Techcrunch.
Prior to FlipGloss, Robyn worked at Yahoo! Music’s radio platform where she oversaw several original video and photo content productions including the Grammy Awards on Yahoo! Music, the first digital extension officially sanctioned by the Recording Academy.
