Background information for the FEMALE INTERNET HEROES EVENT
In recent years, there has been an increase in the number of businesswomen setting up their own internet companies and obtaining prominent positions in the internet industry. However, in the general business and tech media, businesswomen in internet companies are less visible. This is also the case at awards competitions, venture capital forums and pitching events.
Yet a presence and visibility in these media and events is the key to obtaining market share for companies, receiving start-up seed capital, obtaining further financing and being invited to apply for senior executive positions. Events and media are also valuable networking and education opportunities.
The Inspiring Women series: Female Internet Heroes, presents an excellent opportunity for greater participation and visibility in the internet industry of women entrepreneurs, executives and investors.
The programme will include talks on setting up an online business, business models, raising finance, pitching your business and developing the UK and European market.
Agenda
The event will offer an overview of internet companies led, founded and funded by businesswomen.
This will include a presentation by The NextWomen on female leadership in internet businesses, specifically internet entrepreneurs, executives and VCs. The presentation will discuss the top 250 female internet heroes, some key start-ups, capital allocation and women and social media.
The evening will also include the following keynotes:
Top online female entrepreneur - on starting the business, financing the start and growing business, web development, setting up a team, marketing the business, using social media and pitching for awards.
Top executive in the online industry - on the European development of internet companies, challenging established companies, innovation in large companies and the use of internet in companies.
Investor in the online industry - on pitching your business, drafting a business plan and financing for women-led companies..
There will be pitches by start-ups, stands by women entrepreneurs and networking.
