Female online hero in the arts: we-make-money-not-art
We-make-money-not-art is a one-off online art magazine. It takes some time to understand what it is what’s been done. Founder Regine Debatty visits art galleries, listens to conferences, covers art and design events, takes a lot of pictures, interviews creative people, and documents these findings on the website. African bloggers
It was a few months ago that Female Internet Hero Estelle Akofio-Sowah reminded thenextwomen of the luxurious position people are in the Western world, to have the time and infrastructure to use the internet to the fullest. We were therefore pleasantly surprised that there is a small group of Africans, more in particular African women who do have that time. Afrigator compiled a list of them, to be found here. Although the bloggers are predominantly from Developed Africa, it is nice to see there is also women on there from Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda and Ethiopia.
Here are those that write about internet and technology:

Blog08: A Report with questions to be answered
Last Friday was the first Dutch blogger conference Blog08. These were the questions that I came up with while being there:
-
‘Aren’t we all or shouldn ‘t we all be speakers at a bloggers-event?’. I think that a static and old fashioned panel discussion, as chosen at this conference, does not suit a blogger-conference. I would opt instead for a more interactive program i.e. small groups discussing whatever they like. I have attended several open space unconferences and know from experience that this makes an event far more lively.
The Next Speaker has launched
Last Friday, The Next Speaker, a new speakers bureau was officially launched in The Netherlands. The Next Speaker focuses on content by representing only people that can speak about new media, new technology, innovation and entrepreneurship. Founder is Tessa Sterkenburg.
Speakers can be booked for talks, workshops, brainstorm sessions and training courses at The Next Speaker. The Next Speaker currently has about 30 speakers under contract, and the list is growing. Some well-known dutch internet specialists, bloggers, entrepreneurs and twitterazzi have signed up: Erwin Blom (Founder of The Crowds), Oscar Kneppers (Founder of Bright Magazine), Francisco van Jole ((internet)Journalist), Richard Derks (Founder of Respectance), Boris Veldhuijzen van Zanten (Serial Entrepreneur), Marco Derksen (Founder of Marketingfacts) and Werner Vogels (CTO Amazon). Female speakers are Marja Ruigrok (NetPanel), Marjolijn Kamphuis (MTV) and Simone Brummelhuis (IENS, EuropeanMuseumguide and TheNextwomen), all female internet heroes.
