Dresses smelling of cigarette smoke,  jumpers with holes in them, wrongly sized shoes, Julie Adams, founder of stylesorter,  has seen, but more importantly, has bought it all.  But fed up with shopping on Ebay and realising that alternative search websites were few and far between,  Julie decided to provide the solution to her own problem. It came in the form of a unique search engine which indeed allows you to search clothes, shoes and accessories according to style, garment type, fabric, brand and colour.  Thenextwomen asked Julie how she found the process of launching her own online shopping website and what she has achieved and learned so far from it.

New kid on the web; fashion agent the Closet Bureau

We have seen websites such as net-a-porter and designer vintage take the net by storm. But there is still lots of room to conquer the online designer fashion world, shows recently launched the closet bureau, a website that takes designer fashion and sells it for you on Ebay.  Acting as the agent operating between buyers and sellers, the Bureau takes care of everything from shipping to cleaning, to photographing the clothes.

Chloe Holding, one of thenextweb and thenextwomen’s mentees, has defied the credit crunch and launched her website HABINKI. The website offers a range of custom-made bikinis and necklaces.

Chloe set up Habinki from a passion she had for travelling to exotic places and buying clothes, translating these interests into designing bikinis and sourcing manufacturing and ultimately setting up her own e- business in sexy, glamorous and flattering swimwear for women. Read more

Net-a-Porter outNet?

According to a small news item in the Financial Times, Natalie Massanet, founder and CEO of Net-a-porter, is planning an outlet version of the chic clothing retail site. Such a spin-off would be a smart move by Massanet as, despite a sale at the much visited website, which seem to thrill fashionistas , the business suits and weekend outfits that net-a-porter has on offer have steep designer prices. The planned sale or - outlet site will should be up by the end of this year and will reportedly be named Outnet.
