The results of the Female Entrepreneurship x Covid-19 Survey by The Next Women & StartupAmsterdam
Amsterdam, April 30, 2020 – Extra need for networks, (online) meetings and coaching, that is the clear wish of the female entrepreneur at the time of COVID-19. Following a survey that has been distributed among female entrepreneurial Netherlands by StartupAmsterdam and The Next Women, a report with the most striking findings is published today.
Rixt Herklots, Director TheNextWomen:
“Entrepreneurship is vital in times of crisis. In recent years it has become clear that female entrepreneurs can use extra support in a number of areas. That is why we thought it important now to better map out their needs in the middle of COVID-19. In this way, we can also provide maximum support to female entrepreneurs to get through this crisis. ”
Female entrepreneurship in times of crisis
Since the Corona crisis put our country in an exceptional situation more than 7 weeks ago, various parties have worked hard to find solutions. The government has already introduced various measures for entrepreneurs. Startup Amsterdam and The Next Women have joined forces to draw up and distribute a survey to female entrepreneurs, whether additional measures tailored to female entrepreneurs should be introduced.
> 77% of the companies see a direct loss of turnover during this period.
> For more than half of the companies (54%), the market for their product and / or service has even shrunk immediately.
> Many companies are currently looking for opportunities to offer their services online, but many have never done this before. They want to develop new skills or access expertise to continue their business online.
> External support from organizations, or from networks and government, is sorely needed.
> The need for direct measures and initiatives is greatest: direct leads, networking and financing. And second, there is a need for information and measures that can delay or reduce costs, such as tax exemptions and other financial arrangements.

“We need to organise our work better ánd smarter” says Martine Meijburg. Meijburg founded Second Degree in 2013; the first LinkedIn marketing agency (worldwide). A success, as the agency became one of the fastest growing companies in the Netherlands (Silver FD Gazellen Award in 2016), servicing clients such as Philips, KLM and Microsoft.
Martine is an author, public speaker and was listed in The Next Women 100 in 2016, 2017 and 2018 and the Adformatie100 in 2017. She shares with us her experiences as an entrepreneur and member of The Next Women.
She got into the world of recruitment because she showed talent for it and acted on that: at TNW we love playing out your strengths. Now, with her own company and being a mother of two, Dayanara Vonk Ilaria reflects on her journey: “Leadership really is learning how you can influence yourself.”
