We are looking for someone to help us take our scale-up to the next level. Oversee our business operations and lead the team in building Growth Tribe into the world’s most impactful EdTech company. It’s your mission to promote our company’s vision, ensure efficient business operations and drive sustainable growth.
As part of the leadership team, consisting of the founders and our Chief Product Officer, you directly report to the co-founder and CEO, Peter van Sabben. Together with the leadership team, you are responsible for the company’s strategic direction, quality of execution and results.
Translation of the set strategic direction into actionable plans and goals
Design and implement strategic plans and business processes
Manage and lead the team to encourage maximum performance
Oversee all the day-to-day operations and guide the team of directors
Measure and evaluate business metrics to improve performance
Facilitate company growth and culture through effective organisational development
10+ years of work experience
At least 5+ years in a managerial role
At least 3+ years in a startup or scale-up
Previous experience as part of a company’s leadership team
Excellent verbal and written English skills
Previous experience as COO (or similar)
More extensive experience with multiple scale-ups
Experience in the EdTech industry
Excellent verbal and written Dutch skills
You are an empathetic, proactive and decisive leader
You are a strategic thinker and thrive on being a step ahead at all times
You love to manage and coach your team to maximum performance

Statutair directeur Startup Village
Startup Village is de handelsnaam van Amsterdam VentureLab b.v.(AVL), een 100% dochter van UvA Ventures Holding BV. AVL exploiteert Startup Village op Amsterdam Science Park. Startup Village is een iconische, semipermanente locatie, opgetrokken uit tot kantoor- en eventruimte omgebouwde zeecontainers. Op de locatie is plek voor circa 30 vroege fase startup bedrijven en ruimte voor events in diverse formats. Er is tevens een co-working space voor koffie, lunch en ontmoeting. Startup Village, geopend in 2017, is van grote toegevoegde waarde voor de Universiteit van Amsterdam en het Amsterdam Science Park.
Startup Village is een bruisende locatie voor innovatie en co-creatie en wordt regelmatig genoemd in de pers.
Startup Village wordt gerund door een klein team (3-4fte) met operationele, administratieve en marketing taken. Flexibiliteit, service- en oplossingsgerichtheid en het leggen van verbindingen zijn belangrijke community-driven waarden voor het team. Een belangrijke opgave voor de komende jaren is om met het team te werken aan een meer op marketing- en sales gerichte projectorganisatie.
Je bent als statutair directeur P&L verantwoordelijk voor AVL. En eindverantwoordelijk voor alle activiteiten die op Startup Village plaatsvinden. Je zorgt voor het afstemmen van de samenwerking tussen de diverse klanten en stakeholders. Je stelt (meer)jaarlijkse bedrijfsplannen en bijbehorende budgetten op en rapporteert aan de aandeelhouder UvA Ventures Holding.
Je hebt de dagelijkse leiding, begeleidt en coördineert het team. Je zorgt ervoor dat alle teamleden hun activiteiten kunnen uitvoeren. Je coacht en begeleidt de medewerkers. Je voert functionerings- en beoordelingsgesprekken.
Je neemt nieuwe initiatieven die de marketing en ontwikkeling van Startup Village bevorderen en houdt daarbij nadrukkelijk rekening met het belang van de Universiteit van Amsterdam en het Science Park. Je onderhoudt contacten met (potentiële) huurders, partners/sponsoren en andere gebruikers van Startup Village.
Je neemt initiatief en toont maximale inzet. Je bent een voorbeeldfunctie voor zowel de startup community als voor de huurders van de eventruimtes. Je bent verantwoordelijk voor het monitoren en zo nodig bijsturen van de klanttevredenheid. Je brengt structurele knelpunten in beeld en draagt verbeterpunten aan.
Leidinggevende capaciteiten om in deze positie goed te kunnen functioneren
Kennis over en affiniteit met de universitaire en startup wereld
Ervaring in het ontwikkelen van langdurige, innovatieve partnerships en communities
Een gevarieerd netwerk in zowel de private als publieke sector
Een netwerk van mediarelaties is een pre
Ervaring/affiniteit met hospitality is een pre
Ervaring met het leiden van (kleine) teams met operationele taken
Ervaring met het opstellen van jaarplannen en optimaliseren van de operationele, commerciële en financiële prestaties van de organisatie (aan de hand van de vastgestelde KPI’s)
Uitstekende organisatorische vaardigheden
Goede mondelinge en schriftelijke communicatie, een representatief voorkomen en een service- en relatiegerichte opstelling spreekt vanzelf
Nederlands en een goede beheersing van de Engelse taal
